During the month of November, the school has a tradition of holding a Fete Day for all the children to celebrate Children’s Day on November the 14th; and 2017 was no exception. The fun-filled day was enjoyed by all who came. Even the Chairman was trapped by the wily students into the Love Jail and it took no less than the Principal to release him from captivity with a red rose ! We make special mention of the red roses which were contributed by Ms. Among Kesiezie, the mother of a past pupil Mhalelhounuo,( who was of the HSLC 2007 batch of Northfield). Incidentally, Ms. Among has been doing this for the past two years free of cost(!) and we’re so grateful to her for her act of love. Thank you very much, Ms. Among, we truly appreciate your generosity and warmth in keeping ties with the school long after your daughter has passed out of Northfield. Thank you once again; we look forward to keeping closer ties with you and your family. May God bless you for your good work.
The Bouncy Castle was a big hit, as usual. We suspect even some teachers sneaked a bounce or two towards the end of the day ! there’s a child within each and everyone of us and we need to nurture it now and then…..
Other highlights of the Craft Sales included beautiful Christmas wreathes and other decorations, our hand-made Christmas cards and carry-bags were popular items with the crowd. Food never goes out of style- and the Chow Stalls were sold-out within the first half-hour upon opening, which goes a very long way to say that the food was good, no, exceedingly good. Special thanks to our contributors- Mr./Mrs. Atou Mepfhüo, and our past pupils Mr. Kelhoulezo Sekhose (of COZ restaurent) and Mr.Kevisesituo Kesiezie (of FIFA cafe). The Tea/coffee and the Galho stalls were wonderful as well. Thanks to all of you for making our small event so enjoyable. We look forward to your help in days to come.
The games were very popular with the students. Children never get tired of playing especially if one gets monetary benefits for it ! However, not all the games were games of chance- some required skills to get a prize. And let me tell you, some of them were pretty good at what they did- shooting bulls-eye-darts, kicking a football into a tyre at a distance, and shooting 3-pointers into baskets, to name a few, were quite tough for the rest of us.
The Cotton Candy closed shop in no time at all.
2017 Fete Day did not see power outage; we were prepared with our Honda genset! All in all, it was a huge success, thanks to all the senior students, especially the Students Council and the Teachers in charge. The very next day, everybody was in the clean-up mode. The school got cleaned-up after the previous day’s mess and got ready for Final exams. The Fete Day was not a deterrent to good performance, rather, it served as a relaxant- a ‘de-stress,’ if you will. The Finals got underway and before you know it, December was upon us and with it, the holiday spirit. The highlight of this month is always the Annual Day programme.
