The Grade 12 field trip is an annual programme under Environmental Education (E.E) subject. A total of 58 students, along with three teachers and a staff headed to the banks of Doyang where we all camped out for two nights and stayed three days (22nd -24th November 2017). The objective of this field trip is to practically experience some aspects of biodiversity, particularly in Doyang River.

On the second day, we witnessed people preparing for the angling competition which is a part of Hornbill festival 2017. We were told by a local fisherman that during the
hatching season (15th June to 15th July), an approximate of 1000 kilos of fishes are caught in a day. Over the following day, we got to be in the watch tower to behold the famous migratory birds from Siberia, Amur Falcon roosting site located at the outskirts of Pangti Village. To top it all, we all got to enjoy a pleasant boat ride in the Doyang River. Lastly, the lot behold the breathtaking Doyang Hydro- Project, where we have learned that the dam provides electricity for other parts of India. All the above activities have given us a firsthand experience about the economic potential of the biodiversity that is fishery, eco-tourism and the aquatic ecosystem utilised for the benefit of all.

In conclusion, I would like to express my gratitude to the school authority for giving us this opportunity to have all these wonderful experiences, the teachers responsible for
making this trip a success and the students for being good pupils all throughout the trip.
